Batukee:

 Batukee is an international impact business focused on shifting who and how decisions are made through healthy and decolonial work relationships. 

"Batukee" comes from the Portuguese word "Batucar",  it´s typically associated with African-derived religions and brazilian black music. "Batucar" comes from different backgrounds, it can mean to play a percussion instrument, make fast-paced rhythmic sounds, sing and dance for the sacredness or joy.   At Batukee, we believe that an organization is healthy when it is able to achieve its goals while also promoting an environment in which workers can develop, feel secure, and have a sense of belonging. We believe that work relationships can mutually contribute to the evolution of both organizations and their workers. For us, diversity and inclusion are powerful indicators of organizational health. An environment in which workers who experience markers of oppression (racism, sexism,  disability discrimination , LGBTQIA+phobia, among others) are able to act powerfully is an environment that evolves to become healthy for the entire organization. We were born from a deep belief that the profile of decision-makers needs to change, as well as the power dynamics within organizations, so that they can be better for themselves and for the society they exist for. In pursuit of this belief and the desire to learn how it is possible to experience decolonial work relationships, Batukee exists. We know that navigating the innovation of imagining and practicing new paths for work relationships is not a task but a process. Our mission is that the new "Batukee" will be played by our hands but guided by those who came before us towards new possibilities of being and doing in the universe of work. We put our energy into movement, rhythm, and affection for healthy work relationships.
